Our Ministry

The Office of Clergy Excellence includes work related to recruitment, credentialing, and developing clergy to be faithful to God's call as pastoral and ministry leaders. The following areas are connected to the Clergy Excellence office:

  • The Board of Ordained Ministry works with candidates for ministry to ensure they are well-equipped for the work of pastoring local congregations.
  • The Transition in Ministry program is a leadership development program for promising young clergy who are connected to one another and to a mentor or coach in the context of a larger learning community through the early stages of their ministries.
  • Clergy are resourced through continuing education and other support for one-on-one or small group based development opportunities.
  • Clergy resourcing grants--such as the Renewal Leave, Clergy Wellbeing, and Covenant Group Grants--are made available for clergy to individually craft a plan for development. Supporting pastors and equipping congregations for healthy intercultural ministry.

Appointments

What, exactly, plays into the decisions the bishop and cabinet make when appointing a pastor to a mission field? The cabinet has provided a document to explain the factors they consider as they do their best to match up clergy with churches.
