Proposed Constitutional Amendments

The 2024 General Conference passed several proposed amendments to United Methodist Constitution. These unique pieces of legislation only become official once they are ratified by a two-thirds affirmative vote of the aggregate of members to the annual conferences around the world.

It is important to note that we may debate the merits of the proposed amendments during our annual conference session, but no amendments to the legislation are allowed. The votes will be simple Yes-or-No votes. Voting will be allowed at 10 remote sites for the constitutional amendments on Friday, June 6.

Our Voting Process

Remote Sites

The conference is sponsoring 10 remote sites — one for each district — for voting on the constitutional amendments on Friday, June 6. The votes are scheduled for the afternoon, but participants in these locations are invited to take part in the entire day's events, which include important addresses and worship times.

Participants in these sites will have the ability to vote on the amendments, provided they meet the guidelines published in the pre-annual conference workbook on Page 16.

Registration to attend a remote site must be completed by May 23. No late registrations are allowed. The sites are:

  • Central Nebraska District — First United Methodist Church, Norfolk, NE
  • East Central Kansas District — Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church, Topeka, KS
  • Eastern Nebraska District — St. Luke United Methodist Church, Omaha, NE
  • North Central Kansas District — Clay Center United Methodist Church, Clay Center, KS
  • Northeast Kansas District — Resurrection, a United Methodist Church, Leawood, KS
  • South Central Kansas District — East Heights United Methodist Church, Wichita, KS
  • Southeast Kansas District — Humboldt United Methodist Church, Humboldt, KS
  • Southeast Nebraska District — Saint Paul United Methodist Church, Lincoln, NE
  • Western Kansas District — Dodge City United Methodist Church, Dodge City, KS
  • Western Nebraska District — First United Methodist Church, North Platte, NE
