
Rev. Dr. M. Thomas Perkins, 91; retired Great Plains Conference clergy. Born April 5, 1934; died Aug. 11, 2025.
He served as a pastor in the former Nebraska Conference at Lakeview-Emerald, Chester-Hubbell and Omaha Maplewood UMCs and Fontana-Beagle in the former Kansas East Conference. Most of his ministry was in health care and social service systems, including chaplain at Nebraska Methodist Hospital, director at the Ula Halee School for Girls, director of Equilibria Medical Center, chaplain of West Nebraska General Hospital, and at Panhandle Mental Health Center in Scottsbluff as community educator, therapist, clinical director and eventually its director until his retirement in 1996.
Perkins married Cara Ruth Hutchinson in 1959. She died on April 26, 2016.
Survivors include his sons, Tom (Susan) and Lance (Rita); six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be at 9:30 a.m. MT Saturday, Sept. 13, at The Vine UMC in Scottsbluff.
