Penny Birdsong, 69; Certified Lay Minister. Born Sept. 29, 1955; died Feb. 14, 2025.
After retiring from Dillon's. she became a Lay Servant Minister and was in the process of becoming a Certified Lay Minister. She regularly served Salina Grand Avenue, Florence, Wilson, Bennington and Roxbury, among other churches.
She married Doulas Birdsong on July 2, 1977. He was formerly associate pastor of Salina First UMC and was pastor of Salina Grand Avenue until his retirement in 2022.
He survives, as well as sons, Cory Birdsong (Kristin), Dustin Birdsong (Denae) and Jerry Birdsong (Tara), nine grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at Salina First UMC. Memorials may directed to the Love, Chloe Foundation.
