Rev. O. Wayne Turner, 90; retired Great Plains Conference elder. Born February 17, 1935; died September 30, 2025.
Turner started his service with the former Kansas East Conference in 1962 as Director of Christian Education Fairway Old Mission UMC and Jefferson County Cooperative Ministries. He then went on to serve as pastor of Tecumseh UMC, Overland Park Indian Heights UMC, and Kansas City, KS, Bristol Hill UMC until he retired in 2000. After retirement he served as Pastor of Children’s Ministries at Lawrence First UMC.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Turner. Survivors include his children, Angela Slaton and Darin Turner, and a granddaughter.
Memorial services will take place at a later date. Gifts in memory of Wayne may be given to Cross Lines Community Outreach, inc. Kansas City, KS or International Child Art Foundation.
