Rev. Lowell H. Brown, 96; retired clergy. Born April 15, 1929, died May 13, 2025.
He was ordained in the Evangelical United Brethren Church in 1955, and spent six years as pastor at Alexander, Kan., before becoming assistant state director of the Christian Rural Overseas Program in Kansas. IN 1963, he was named as the state director of CROP in Illinois, and assistant director of the national office, becoming director of the department in 1981. In 1988, he was made acting associate director of the overseas programs of the Church World Service and Witness Program of the National Council of Churches in Christ in the USA, in New York. He maintained this position until his retirement in 1993.
He married Wilma Pratt on June 24, 1951. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Dixie Diane Seaton (Tom) and Carla Renee Peavy (Grady); five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are planned for Sunday, June 29, at Middle Creek United Methodist Church in Sevierville, Tenn. Memorials may be made to Church World Services or the Alzheimer’s Association.
