The Mercy and Justice Team, in partnership with Joy Skjegstad and Heidi Unruh, are excited to invite Great Plains United Methodists congregations to apply to be a “Listening Encounter (LE) Church.” A Listening Encounter is a community listening process that will lead local congregations to engage deeper in their communities for the sake of justice work. Each LE Church will be matched with a trained LE Coach to conduct the Listening Encounter over a 6-month period. To participate, it costs LE churches $1,500 with grant options available.
If you think your church would be a good fit but aren’t sure you meet all the qualifications, we encourage you to apply:
Congregation with a passion for community-building, mercy, and justice
Previous experience working within the community
Connections to leaders and organizations within the community
Desire to expand their ministry beyond the church walls
Have 5-10 church members who make up the Listening Encounter team
