Ebb Munden

Rev. Dr. Ebb Munden III, 100; retired Great Plains Conference pastor. Born Aug. 13, 1925; died Sept. 2, 2025.

A Mississippi native raised in New Orleans, Munden received business administration and juris doctorate degrees from Tulane University, and after serving for the U.S. Navy in the Korean War, received his master of theology degree from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University and his doctor of sacred theology degree from Nebraska Wesleyan.

He served 35 years in two ministerial appointments, as the founding and senior pastor of St. Matthew's UMC in Metairie, La., and as pastor of Lincoln First UMC from 1966 to 1991.

After his retirement in 1991, he and his wife, Lucy, moved to Plano, Texas. She preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 2021, after 70 years of marriage.

Munden is survived by a son, Michael (Louanne) Munden, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at a later date at Legacy at Willow Bend in Plano.
