Rev. Dr. Carl Evans, 83; former Great Plains Conference clergy. Born Jan. 13, 1942; died Aug. 12, 2025.
A graduate of Kansas Wesleyan University and Perkins School of Theology, he received a master of arts and doctorate from the University of Chicago.
He served former Kansas West Conference churches in Arlington and Abbyville, and from 1974 to 2009, he served on the faculty of the religious studies department at the University of South Carolina.
A widower, survivors include his second wife, Cheryl; sons, Matthew and David Evans; and five grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. ET Saturday, Aug. 13, at Washington Street United Methodist Church, Columbia, S.C.
